The passenger car sales in India is at its best as it registered the highest ever growth in car sales in April in the last 11 years. The main factors behind this robust growth was easier availability of finance and the low base effect of last year, which helped the car-makers like Maruti and Hyundai to register the highest growth ever in their monthly sales in last decade.
Total passenger car sales in the country surged 39.5 per cent last month at 1,43,976 units, as compared to 1,03,227 units sold during the same month of last year, accounted for the highest growth in car sales in April in the last 11 years, according to the data provided by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (Siam).
However, there has been a decline of 7.4 per cent in domestic passenger car sales in April, on a month-on-month basis. The domestic passenger car sales was at 1,55,600 units in March; 1,53,845 units in February; and 1,45,905 units in January, as per the SIAM data.
Maruti Suzuki India, the largest car maker in India registered a 22.1 per cent jump in its sales at 68,668 units in April 2010 as against 56,228 units sold in the same month last year, while the Hyundai Motor India posted a jump of 28.1 per cent at 28,501 units last month compare to 22,241 units sold in same period last year. The sales of Tata Motors went up 76.4 per cent at 19,762 units, as compared to 11,202 units during the same month last year.
