Mercedes-Benz R-Class, which had attracted a large number of car enthusiast and visitors at its world premiere at the New York International Auto Show in March 2010, is expected to take the Indian route soon. The model will possibly be launched in India as a CBU (Completely Built Unit), however price of this model has not been disclosed.
The new R-Class model has been developed in a completely new avatar with more aggressive front section along with styling cues borrowed from Mercedes' popular SUV and saloon models. With this, the R-Class model comes equipped with the latest Blue EFFICIENCY technology of Mercedes-Benz, making it one of the most environment-friendly and economical vehicles in the premium car segment. The mileage that it offers is around 7.6 l per 100 km, which is around 7 percent less than the fuel economy of the preceding model.
The company has a lot of surprises and is exploring a number of options for the Indian market, as per a statement given by Dr. Wilfried Aulbur, managing director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India to a leading media group. However he refused to comment on the launch of R-Class in India.
